About The Talk: 

Every summer, paleontology field crews from Museum of the Rockies time travel through Montana, uncovering the fossils of dinosaurs and other ancient organisms. Join the museum’s Curator of Paleontology, Dr. John Scannella, as he discusses the incredible creatures preserved in the region and how they are shaping our understanding of life on Earth.

About our Speaker: 

John Scannella was born in Queens, New York, and was fascinated by dinosaurs at an early age. He received a bachelor’s degree in geology from Rutgers University in New Jersey and a Ph.D. in Earth Sciences from Montana State University (MSU). His dissertation research focused on the famous horned dinosaur Triceratops. He is the Curator of Paleontology at Museum of the Rockies and works with a number of Montana State University undergraduate and graduate students on paleontology research projects. He has conducted field work throughout Montana, exploring prehistoric ecosystems and deciphering dinosaur growth and evolution.
