Heidi Huber

Heidi is the President of BHS’s Interact Club. Her goal this year is to ensure that this all-inclusive club continues to encourage kindness, cultivate inclusion, self-awareness, and expand membership through social media, word-of-mouth, and school posters. She is also the Co-founder and secretary of the French Club. Heidi is also the “Baguette Manager” of the French Club. She makes sure there are baguettes at every meeting.
Heidi participated in the RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Award) Camp for two summers. Heidi describes her experience: “As campers, we were challenged to come up with a kindness campaign that could be implemented in all schools across the state of Montana. My idea was selected to be used in all Montana High schools. I am still the face of the RYLA website today! After going through an interview process, I returned as a camp counselor ... .This camp has had a fundamental impact on my future, highlighting the good in the world once you open your eyes and look for it. I have interviewed again to come back as a second-year counselor, the highest level you can reach at camp.”
Heidi was inducted into the National Honor Society and the Business National Honor Society at BHS. She also organized and planned the 2025 Bozeman High School Prom as part of the Prom Committee. Heidi donates blood to the American Red Cross. Heidi states, “this opportunity is very important to me as I have Iron-Deficiency Anemia only discovered because of donating.”
Heidi swings golf clubs and tennis rackets. She has been on the Varsity Golf team for 3 years. This year, she served as a Captain and Media Manager. Heidi has given back to the sport by assisting at the LPGA Girls Golf Days at Cottonwood Hills Golf Course during the summer.
In addition to these school sports, Heidi bikes and skis and climbs mountains. She participated in the Coast to Coast European Cycling Challenge which is a month-long 1,350-mile adventure on a touring bike with Apogee Adventures. With 12 other students, Heidi cycled through 7 different European countries. She also participates in FreeRide IFSA (International Freeride Ski Association) U19 Extreme skiing competitions. When describing these events, Heidi states, “It took me beyond my comfort zone, yet kept me coming back to compete again. It taught me to commit even with fear, be brave, and go for it! It was also an event that brought out the best in its competitors and had huge team camaraderie.” Heidi recently summited Mount Baker, the third-highest peak in Washington. On this adventure she learned how to use an ice axe, walk in crampons, and self-arrest from crevasses.
Heidi believes sports have had a big impact on her life. She says, “through sports, I developed a strong mindset that enabled me to forget my failures quickly, move forward, and learn from my mistakes. This mental toughness is evident in all my school work, clubs, and activities. I will continue to work harder in the subjects I struggle with and never give up in the face of adversity. I developed a personal mantra, and when I feel defeated repeat, ‘Gotta have grit, gotta have grit…’ By the time I look up, I am up and over the hill of a tough climb or hitting submit on a complicated assignment.”
In addition, Heidi reflects that she always brings the team spirit and contributes to any atmosphere she finds herself in. “From high-fiving every teammate to making friends from rival schools, you will always find me talking to anyone I cross paths with. I love meeting new people and learning more about who they are. This is a unique curiosity, as where some spend energy communicating with others and feel drained, I feel rejuvenated after a lively conversation.”
Heidi is proud of challenging herself academically in high school. Her two favorite classes so far have been AP Psychology and AP United States History. This year, she is also enjoying Hawk TV as an elective. Heidi is a 2025 AP Scholar, Secretary of the National Honor Society and a member of the Business National Honor Society.
Heidi is undecided about her future academic focus, but thinks it will be primarily social sciences-focused. She says, “Overall, my determination and compassion are my main strengths that will benefit my future career choice and major. Although I am still undecided on my exact path, I know that I will work toward helping others. I will strive to contribute to the world for the benefit of others and never give up on my goals and dreams.”
