Ginny Dunnington

Ask others about Ginny and they will tell you she is funny, outgoing, thoughtful, positive, and genuine. Ginny tries to connect with lots of different people in and outside of school because “I love getting to know people.”
Ginny is involved in theater at BHS. She has been a part of Music Man (sophomore year) and The Princess Bride (senior year). Ginny loves musicals. She also loves to sing outside of musicals and is part of the Chamber and Jazz Choirs at BHS. Ginny develops her musical talent with classical voice and piano lessons. She will be traveling to Orlando with the BHS Chamber Choir this year. Ginny states, “I have found such a strong community in choir, led by our amazing teacher Mr. Malczyk. Some days choir is the reason I come to school and I feel like it has really shaped a lot of my purpose as a high schooler.”
Ginny also loves Arabic. She has been learning Arabic since 6th grade and has served as the President of the BHS Arabic Language Club all four years of high school.
As Ginny reflects on her high school experience, she says, “ I am most proud of how much I have grown as a person in high school. I am still the same person I was when I started middle school, but my personal strength has increased so much…my capability to accomplish challenging things. I am genuinely so proud of myself for being able to take difficult classes, participate in lots of out-of-school things, do physically challenging sports, and balance that with my relationships. I think a big part of this growth stems from me gaining a better understanding of balance. During high school, I have learned how to balance my time, energy, etc in order to be able to do the things I want to do and take care of myself.” Life balance might be inspired by Ginny’s Zodiac sign which is a scale.
Ginny wants to be an adult who continues to grow and learn. She says “I don't want to be stagnant or unchanging. I want to keep doing lots of different things and I don't want to give up on being the best person I can be when I reach full "adulthood". I want to be the kind of person that has strong relationships with lots of different people. I want to be the kind of person who keeps learning random new hobbies. I want to be the kind of person who keeps asking people about themselves, and I want to be the kind of person who is certain of who I am but always wants to better understand how I exist as a part of a whole, in the world.”
