Asha Miller
Asha is a kind, hardworking, talkative and confident student. She has been involved in Rotary/Interact Club for 3 years and HOSA (Health Occupations Students of America) club for 2 years. Asha serves as the Secretary for the Interact Club and is an officer in HOSA as well. Asha states, “I have greatly enjoyed both of these clubs because they have given me opportunities that I would not have had previously. I got connected to the hospital through HOSA, and Interact first gave me the push to volunteer outside of the school and I am so grateful for it.”
Asha participated in track and field, volleyball and golf. In addition, she has played piano for over 6 years.
Asha’s work at Valley View Golf Club every summer helped her discover her love of golf. She also volunteered at the hospital. It’s there she realized she loved helping people, “having the best or worst day of their lives.” Asha also helped in the hospital pharmacy which gave her insights that, “every single person (working at the hospital) is doing something to help others and doing their part in society. There are so many people in the hospital behind the scenes, and they may not be performing surgeries but they all have their important roles.”
Asha works hard in school to maintain her 3.98 GPA. “ I have put my all into every class I've been a part of because there is no better feeling than getting a test and knowing all the material on it…. the amount of satisfaction and pride is unmeasurable.” Asha enjoyed many classes at BHS, including AP US History, ceramics, chemistry, and Biomedical Sciences. Her favorite class was Biomed because, “ I discovered that I wanted to do healthcare in the future through that class. It was also a fun, hands-on class and Ms. Knodel has a great teaching method and I learned so much.”
Asha is most proud of all she has learned in high school. She is grateful for the many science classes she took. In addition, her art classes helped her learn what she does NOT love to do. Ceramics is the art exception, “I absolutely loved ceramics and have already decided it is my retirement plan to make bowls all day.”
Asha’s faith in the church has grown throughout the last four years. Asha describes the impact, stating, “ It has given me comfort when I have to do something hard, and joy when I succeeded in achieving my goals. It has been a roller-coaster, and I will never be perfect but I know that it's my mission to go out into the world and help all the people I can. I am proud of the fact that I will leave Bozeman knowing I helped make it better, and I will always be the first junior volunteer in the hospital pharmacy and was a big part of getting the word out so more kids like me also get the opportunity.”
Asha’s future plans are not yet decided. “I am hoping to go out-of-state, or possibly out-of-country in Canada for college. I want to study genetics and cellular biology, possibly with a minor in psychology or Spanish.”
