Welcome
Anna Wiseman is our September, 2022 Bozeman Sunrise Rotary Student of the Month!
Anna is a very active Bozeman High senior.
She is a Varsity member of speech and debate, and is also a part of the leadership committee. She has been involved in speech and debate all 4 years of high school. Anna serves as the Treasurer for both the SAGA (Sexuality and Gender Alliance) and the Interact/Rotary clubs. She’s also involved in the Model United Nations. This involves representing the views of a specific country on one of the available committees (for example last year Anna represented France's stance on the environmental committee). Delegates are then given a relevant world issue that they must write a position paper on from their country's standpoint, and then attend a MUN conference in Missoula where they debate the issue and devise collaborative solutions. Anna also serves on the National Honor Society.
Anna is the co-founder and president of the non-profit Bozeman PERIOD Chapter. This national organization works to end menstrual inequality and stigma through service, advocacy, and education. Recently, the BHS group hosted an art walk and auctioned the art/jewelry of local high schoolers and then split the profits with the artists. They earned just over $1000, most of which then went into making menstrual packs for the summer for local schools.
Finally, Anna is a part of Peer Education. This group, run by both Bridgercare and Haven, is a select group of high school-aged people that undergo extensive training to provide fact-based and comprehensive sex ed. and healthy relationship lessons to their peers.
Anna is a former gymnast and has played the piano since 2nd grade. She loves to get out and hike, raft, and backpack in the warmer months and downhill/cross-country ski in the colder months.
Anna states, “Giving back to one's community and helping to create the change that needs to happen in the world are very important values of mine, I'm very honored to be given this award! “
