Fullbright Teaching Fellows

Each year, Montana State University welcomes international educators to Bozeman through the Fulbright Teaching Excellence and Achievement Program. Sponsored by the U.S. Department of State, the fellowship brings teachers from countries around the world to the United States for professional development, cross-cultural exchange, and collaboration with local schools.

During their six-week residency, the Fulbright Teaching Fellows study at Montana State University, work with educators in Bozeman-area schools, and develop projects to address needs in their home communities. Fellows have come to MSU from countries including Peru, Mongolia, Tanzania, and many others.

Bozeman Sunrise Grants

Bozeman Sunrise Rotary works with the MSU Department of Education to support the program through our club’s International Committee. Each year, our members have the chance to hear directly from every fellow as they present their proposed projects, discuss the challenges facing their schools, and share what they have learned during their time in Montana.

The presentations give members a firsthand look at education in communities around the world. Fellows have developed projects addressing issues such as:

• Youth drug use
• Classrooms without enough chairs or desks
• Inadequate sanitation facilities
• Limited library and educational resources
• Training needs for teachers and school staff

Following the presentations, Bozeman Sunrise Rotary helps fund several of the proposed projects. These grants may help fellows purchase classroom equipment, improve school facilities, expand access to educational materials, or train other educators after returning home.

The partnership gives our club an opportunity to support practical, locally led projects while building lasting connections with educators from around the world. It is also one of the most meaningful international programs our members participate in each year.
