Non-partisan explanation of 11/2/21 ballot issues

Speakers scheduled to appear are County Commissioners Zach Brown and Joe Skinner, and from the city of Bozeman, Commissioner Terry Cunningham and Fire Chief (and club member) Josh Waldo.

Josh Waldo Chief Josh Waldo is the Fire Chief in Bozeman, MT, a positon he has held since August 2015.  Prior to his arrival in Bozeman, Chief Waldo served as the Deputy Fire Chief in Oak Ridge, TN and the Fire Chief of the Marlow Volunteer Fire Department in Clinton, TN.  Chief Waldo was the 2017 Center for Public Safety Excellence Ambassador of the Year and 2013 Tennessee Fire Educator of the Year.    Chief Waldo holds a Master’s degree and a Bachelor’s degree from Eastern Kentucky University.  

Terry Cunningham Terry Cunningham is one of five Bozeman City Commissioners, serving a four-year term that began in 2018. He was appointed Deputy Mayor Pro Tempore in 2021. In the past year, Terry has published Red Mountain Pass, a novel set in the Ouray / Telluride area, and released a country music song: Speaker of the House. He enjoys hiking, running, skiing and biking on area trails and slopes with his wife Laura and his two dogs Seamus and Maeve.

Zach Brown Zach Brown grew up in Gallatin County; he lived in the Story Hills until the third grade and then moved into Bozeman city limits for the remainder of his childhood. He completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Montana in 2013. From 2014 to 2020,  He lives in Bozeman with his wife Alice Buckley and their two rescue dogs, Norman and Wanda. 

Joe Skinner Commissioner Skinner is a life long resident of Gallatin County.  He has been married to JoJo for 42 years.  They have two sons – Luke and Jake.  Joe was involved in a successful agricultural operation for 25 years raising seed potatoes, alfalfa and beef cattle.  Joe is an advocate of conservation practices and has experimented with and implemented alternative grazing systems and riparian management practices.  He graduated from Manhattan High School and received a B.S. degree in Fish & Wildlife Management from MSU.
