Climate Change and the Near Future for the Gallatin Valley
Dr. Anway is a physicist who spent her career at Boeing and became a Fellow of the American Physical Society in 2019. Upon retirement in 2020 she got involved in the field of climate change communication and she will speak about climate change and the specific changes coming to Gallatin Valley in the next thirty years. We will continue to see shorter winters, more severe storms, longer and hotter summer heat waves, more pests in the forest, changes in farming, and increased fall forest fires. Natural gas will phase out, and the electric sector will expand dramatically. We will see increased likelihood of another pandemic and increased migration to the region as other parts of the country warm faster. Some changes are annoying, some deadly, and some are true opportunities.
