KENYA - Empowering Women Through Economic Opportunities and Water Access
Our work in Turkana, Kenya continues to grow with the Blessed Community Empowerment organization and South North Nexus. In Turkana County women face cultural and environmental barriers that can severely impact their livelihoods and the future of their children. Through business development support, increased access to water, and community horticulture, women are gaining essentials skills to support their families and uplift their communities. The partnership equips women to build sustainable livelihoods by improving their skills to diversify their food sources and generate sustainable incomes. Through initiatives like the revolving fund, women now have access to credit, savings opportunities, and financial literacy training. The revolving fund ensures that women entrepreneurs can develop new businesses, sustain their businesses, and keep their children in school, even during challenging times. Our work also promotes sustainable farming and kitchen gardens, equipping families with the skills to grow nutritious food in an environmentally sustainable way. To date over 300 women have participated in trainings through the Rotary partnership.
